With GNOME 3.0 (april 2011), the GNOME Project have decided to discontinue GConf.
Itf won't be maintained anymor: bugs and security holes will not be fixed.
Thus, aMule shouldn't depend on GConf any longer.

There are severals solution to repalce GConf.
One of them is to migrate to GSettings.
GStettings is the official GNOME replacement for GConf, and the GNOME project is porting all of its applications to it:

You will find the official GConf to GSettings porting guide at:

You're in the wrong forum, dude.
We are using wxWidgets to access our settings. Go bother them if you think they are using the wrong library.

OK, if you are interested, I reported this bug for wxWidgets:

Now reading your wxWidgets ticket, becomes clear that you think of the amule-gnome-support package.

To make things clear:
1) aMule by itself doesn't depend on GConf nor any platform- or window-manager-dependant way to store configuration.
2) The amule-gnome-support package is a debian (and the like) addition to the aMule packages to help Gnone integration. You should bug the packager with this.
